Take Your Houseplant for a Walk Day

Show your plants some love and share a walk in the fresh air!

Take Your Houseplant for a Walk Day is just the kind of quirky, cute holiday I love. While plants aren’t as cuddly as your housecat, they are living things that some even consider pets or part of the family! I know that when I care for my houseplants, it makes me feel happy and connected to the environment. July 27th is a day this plant mom looks forward to!

How to Take Your Houseplant for a Walk

Whether it’s the release of serotonin you get or the fresh air they give, caring for your houseplants is a widespread hobby across the globe. Take this day to show them a unique form of care by exploring and exercising with them!

There are a few things to remember, though. If your houseplant is fragile or ill-equipped to handle drastic changes in temperature, a walk around the house may be enough. If it’s a hardy little guy, then you can expand outside into your backyard or around the block!

Some choose to carry their plant in their hands, but others get more creative! You can walk your plant by:

  • Holding it in your hands and walking around
  • Pushing the plant around in a stroller
  • Carrying your plant in a baby carrier/sling
  • Rolling a plant around in a wheelbarrow

Last but not least, how can we celebrate this foliage-rich day?

  • Visit a plant nursery and support local horticulturists!
  • Have a houseplant photo shoot!
  • Take your plant on a walk!
  • Visit a local park or garden!
